Enable Your Loved One to Call You
A user can now make Outbound Calls from CallGenie! We have received numerous requests from prospective customers over the last couple of years asking if we support outbound calls. It is something we have been wanting to do ever since we migrated to Microsoft Teams in 2025.
Outbound Calls is designed for CallGenie users that not only value the simplicity of automatically-answered inbound calls but who would also like a simple solution for making outbound calls to a nominated carer or family member.
Just like with the “Do Not Disturb Button, we recently launched, it uses a 55mm arcade style button connected to CallGenie’s Mini PC via USB.
Pressing the button initiates an outbound call to a nominated contact stored in the CallGenie contacts list. Once the call is answered, the television is switched to the CallGenie input for the duration of the call. The call is terminated by the recipient hanging up, and the television is returned to the state it was in before the call.
As the Outbound Call button has to be connected physically to the CallGenie Mini PC, it ideally needs to be co-located with the Mini PC. It is, therefore, suited to the more physically able user. In the future we are aiming to have a BlueTooth version that can be located next to the user.
The Outbound Call Button is available now as an optional extra, connecting directly into a spare USB port on the CallGenie Mini PC. It can be added to a new CallGenie order or purchased as an upgrade to an existing system.
Additional buttons can be added to the system if there’s a requirement for outbound calls to multiple recipients. This can be achieved by using a USB splitter.
